"Excuse me, miss Lalay, pwedeng magpa-pikchur?"

"parked car - this night sky - make city lights shine like diamonds" cried Gabby Alipe out front on that glass stage set of the 4th Backdoor Ventures Music and Arts Festival at the Megatrade Hall 3 of SM Megamall. My boyfriend and I kept still sitting on our chairs at the back row of 6 lines of chairs from the stage while black-clad rakistas scream at the back. It was fun watching and listening to Urbandub perform live - we both agreed our 80 php entrance fee was sulit all the way.
Hello?!
We get to see all those artists and discover the arts that our proud Filipino comrades are sporting!
Actually, the last day of the event is today and I bet its more fun than the last two days. Although, we didn't do that much interacting - we were a shy couple - I'd have to say masaya palang umattend ng mga ganon. Not because we get to see in person those famous people we see from magazines or the tv and hear from the radio but because we get to experience the music and arts the Filipinos can offer. World-class, actually!
And then there was Juddha Paolo's poetry/spoken word performance.
Aba, may ibubuga pala!
He was actually great!
His diction was good and we all felt his presence. He sounded like an evangelist/rapper because his poem was about God and humanity but he did it with utmost enthusiasm that i can't help but be moved.
And since yes, we were shy, we dared not approach him or the other performers - except for Miss Lalay who didn't think twice when I asked her if we can have our picture taken. She was very down-to-earth (not to mention, my height! LOL) and is actually someone I look up to as an aspiring musician.
Oi! Don't forget Stonefree!
I have to admit Miro Valera has that voice. I was awestruck with their performance of Anghel (my fave Stonefree song - ever!).
My boyfriend (who is the more rakista of the two of us) pointed out those guys he knew - from the guitarist of the Chongkeys, Siling Giniling and Paramita to Bel Sayson of Pulp Magazine to the surprisingly unexpected Dominic Ochoa eating that (what?) burger in front of the BOSE booth. I have to admit he knows a LOT of people!
The greatest performance we experienced yesterday was by the Professional Session Drummer (among many other titles) Michael Alba. We were both drum enthusiasts, my bf and i, and it was just the damnest thing i've ever seen! He played the drums like he had eight arms and four legs!!! Darn!! Must be the closest thing to Travis Barker - or better!
There were other things too aside from the music experience - we get to attend a comics and illustration talk by Glass House Graphics' Wilson Tortosa and that other guy (I'm sorry i forgot your name). Wunan (Wilson) also did a demo drawing for five minutes - i couldn't believe what i was seeing (five minutes?!) - a Wolverine in manga style, a character for the new Wolverine Manga by Del Rey Publishing. Let me tell you, it was rendered complete with shading. Darn!
The art show featured works from the Miriam High school and works by distinguished Filipino artists (which i can't name because there were too many to remember). They were all great and yeah - World Class, baby!
The booths offered everything - from your food and drinks (Amara food and catering, Cossack Vodka and Tanduay), artsy feels (deviantart, engkanto, mangaholix, nat'l commission for the culture and the arts among many others) to your music awareness (musiclokal, bose, guitarhero, mtv phil, jb music, nu107, jam883, ur105.9, 99.5campusradio, science of sound) ,reading pleasures (pulp magazine, psicom, inquirer, adobo magazine, playground mag) and web connection (musiclokal.com, friendster.com, clickthecity.com,88db.com).
We didn't get to hang out long enough to see the Cosplay event that afternoon because i needed to get home...which would take 3 hours. And my excuse (lies!) wouldn't fit my arrival if i finished the whole event that day until 10 pm (:P).
But in all in all, i had fun (kita nyo naman sa dami ng naisulat ko!)!!!

When the Going Gets Tough...I'm Sleeping!!!

My friends (which are also my classmates) have all declared a texting/gimik/tv/netsurfing hiatus after the final words about the submission date for our plate in Architectural Design 7 was broadcasted. It's part of the arki student's life - yes, cramming is actually the closest word to it.

Me, well, noticeably with my ill mind i don't do that kind of cramming. That kind of cramming is almost too gentle for my kind of cramming. (?) There's no type of hiatus for me. And that is what brings me down on the level of industry.

I'm lazy. have I mentioned in my last blog?

First and foremost, the plate was boring. A government center? for a lowly unurbanized municipality? it is a challenge - but if the requirement is you have to unify the design with its surrounding..then i couldn't think more than the usual things we see...

or maybe I'm not that good in conceptualizing...

Nah!

The point is it was BORING! I didn't give it my best, actually. there must be something wrong with me but i thought it was that tad BORING! I play the guitar in between my drawings and i didn't even finished the thing! I even watched a movie when I was down out with my concepts and smoked and laughed and surfed the net! That was what I did!

And well...I'll just have to regret what I did by the time its graded... T_T

ANd I won't make any promises either!

BEING LAZY means DOING NOTHING

i hardly get my pencil and pen down when at school..it does get tiring... almost 10 hours of non-stop drawing and designing...not that I'm regretting ever taking up architecture - it's just that these days it feels like I haven't have much time for myself! I barely get any sleep. And my boyfriend refuse to text or call me when he knows I'm busy - which is ALWAYS. Then my "homies" would start ranting bout how lazy I am if they ever catch me sitting down in front of the tv or the pc...wehehe. Darn.
